Bure Meadow allotments can be found off Burgh Road. They are managed by Aylsham Town Council. The council have allocated one of the allotment plots to Aylsham in Bloom to run as a community allotment. Bloom volunteers manage this plot and can help and encourage those who are interested in growing fruit and veg to come and have a go. There are beds for annual crops plus some with more permanent plants like herbs, fruit and asparagus. Those who help share the harvest. Some people cultivate a small bed to grow things they particularly like for themselves.
Having an allotment isn't just about digging, planting, weeding and, if all goes well, harvesting. Allotments are a great place to sit in the open air and chat, or just reflect on the world ... even better if you have brought along a flask of tea and some biscuits!
